Les Petites Pommes French Academy
After School French Academy & Before School French Club

Les Petites Pommes French Academy is a fully structured language program dedicated to developing confident, capable French speakers through thoughtfully designed curriculum, bilingual and engaging lessons and activities, and an approach to learning rooted in our Les Petites Pommes Core Values: Compassionate Communication, Big Dreams, Safety & Inclusion, Confidence Through Learning, Creating Fun, and Practicing Presence.

The Les Petites Pommes Approach to French & Language Learning

Our Academy has been shaped by our experience since 2009 delivering French summer camps tutoring programs and developing in-person and online curriculums from private and public school boards, government agencies, and individual students from young to old. Through years of working closely with students, families, stakeholders and clients, we’ve developed an approach grounded in what we’ve witnessed truly supports successful and lasting motivation for language learning.

We believe that before a student can learn, they must first feel safe with a strong sense of belonging. From there, when learning is engaging and enjoyable, students become naturally ready and motivated to absorb a new language. This is the foundation of our joy-first approach:where positive experiences come first, creating the conditions for meaningful learning to follow. We call this making positive deposits to the language learning bank account!

At Les Petites Pommes, we prioritize ease, and enjoyment so that students choose, again and again, to engage with French. This repeated, positive engagement is what builds not only skill, but also a lifelong motivation to continue learning.

We also intentionally use a bilingual approach in delivering new concepts. Research shows that students learning through a bilingual model, achieve outcomes comparable to those in fully immersive environments. More importantly, through our own experience, we have seen that this approach builds confidence, reduces overwhelm, and allows students to participate more fully from the very beginning.

Language learning is a long journey, and we often hear from parents and clients that they wish they had continued with French, but didn’t because they didn’t enjoy the experience or didn’t connect with how it was taught. Our mission is to cultivate a lifelong love of French, where students associate language learning with confidence, connection, and an enrichment that also opens opportunities throughout their lives.

Guided by Our Core Values
Everything we do is rooted in the Les Petites Pommes values:

  • Compassionate Communication: Our words are our power and we choose to use them to communicate with compassion in French, English or in any language. Whether in a dialogue with ourselves or each other, no challenge is too big when we operate with kindness, understanding, and empathy.
  • Big Dreams: Where there is a decision to pursue language learning, there is a dream. A dream that inspires a goal leads to a journey that is uniquely special. We are enthusiastic allies in the pursuit of your big dreams.
  • Safety & Inclusion: Before one can learn, they must be and feel safe. Creating spaces that are reliably and consistently safe and welcoming to all is essential to us.
  • Confidence Through Learning: We provide excellent French education and we celebrate when students learn something they didn’t know yesterday. We believe the more positive experiences and interactions with French and learning that we can create, the more likely students are to feel confident in themselves and their abilities.
  • Creating Fun: Together we can create experiences, and interactions that nurture play, laughter, and fun while learning French!
  • Practicing Presence: We believe in holding a space of acceptance for all of our students and meeting them exactly where they are on their learning journey. This begins with listening and being present to all of their needs.

Knowledgable and Kind Teachers
Our team of kind and knowledgeable teachers create a warm, structured environment where students are encouraged to participate actively, take risks, and grow their confidence in French.

Our Students

Like our Summer Camp and Tutoring Programs, Les Petites Pommes French Academy welcomes a wide range of learners at different stages of their language journey. Our multi-age classrooms bring together students with diverse backgrounds and goals, including those enrolled in or preparing to enter French Immersion or full-French programs (From both public and separate school boards), Core French students seeking to strengthen their skills, homeschool learners, newcomer students, and students from a variety of private school settings, from Montessori to faith-based education, as well as complete beginners just beginning their French journey.
