I know we’re a still a ways away from tax-season, but recently I had a parent at summer camp remind me to remind our other parents that they may be eligible to claim childcare expenses on their tax returns and that French camp counts towards this benefit. Why not combine the joys of French learning for your child with potential tax savings!

Here’s a helpful resource on the CRA website that explains everything you need to know about claiming child care expenses. You can check it out clicking by here.

The amount to be claimed will depend on the child’s age. I believe parents can claim up to $8,000 (up to 6 years old) or $5,000 (up to 16 years old) so be sure to explore this further and consult a tax professional to ensure you take full advantage of available deductions.
