Milestones and Emotions

Our students and their families are incredibly to special to us. When they encounter challenges or obstacles, we see these struggles, offering support, guiding them and moving with them through each step of their journey towards learning and growth. We become a part of their learning team that doesn’t have to change from year to year and allows us to build a special rapport and understanding of them as a whole.

Through our in-person and online programs, we have students who we have the privilege of moving through many stages and years of growth with.

Whenever we reach big milestones together, I always feel a bit weepy with a sense of nostalgia.  For example, this week one of my in-person student’s, Jaden, who has been with Les Petites Pommes since 2013, shared with me that he was just accepted to McMaster University for Integrated Biomedical Health Science Engineering. I felt SO PROUD of him since I had so many flash backs of his perseverance, dedication and unique journey that led to that moment.

I remember during the summertime for many years at our French summer camp when he would be running around with his cousins, to different times over the course of many school years during our tutoring sessions when we faced and overcame struggles together.

While he hasn’t come to tutoring all year round for a few years now, (as this is the progression of many students we teach during elementary through to high school) he makes special appearances as needed. For example, right now he is preparing for his upcoming French DELF test certification. He’s reached the stage where he now confidently navigates his academic path and just calls us when he needs us. We’ve always been on his learning team and he know’s that he can call anytime for anything and we’ll be here. Once a Petite Pomme, always a Petite Pomme!

Happy Learning Friends! Thanks for being part of our community!

A camp tradition we started is that whenever there is a birthday we give a birthday ananans! (Pineapple is the unofficial fruit of Les Petites Pommes) Here is Jaden getting his birthday ananas during tutoring and then us re-creating the moment again a few years later where you can see he is now way taller then me.

Jaden (right) and his cousins at French summer camp in 2014, 10 years ago, hard to believe!
Jaden at tutoring this week preparing for his Delf Test with John, but also, like his other tutoring birthdays, he was greeted with a birthday pineapple 🙂 Congratulations on getting into McMaster University for Integrated Biomedical Health Science Engineering. We’re so proud of you!
